The Missing Link

The “Missing Link” is a bracket with a high-rate spring that mounts into the skid frame rails just behind the rubber bump stops. In the very final inch of suspension travel the device will engage the upper cross shaft of the rear torque arm and help to prevent hard bottoming onto the rails. What this does is allows you to turn the rear suspension for a more comfortable ride yet still have resistance to bottoming in that big blowout bump. As you know, anytime the suspension bottoms and the cross shaft axle collide with the rubber bump stops down on the rails it is a violent disruption to the ride quality. The bumpers are not there to protect us, they are there to help save the rails. The Missing Link helps control the energy at this end of travel to prevent hard bottoming. Video of How to Install The Missing Link for Ski-Doo rMotion Snowmobiles

This video will demonstrate two installation methods: with or without removing the suspension.

Purpose of The Missing Link

  • To provide resistance to bottoming out, reducing harsh impacts and improving comfort.
  • Allows for softer spring and valve settings without sacrificing control.

Components

  • The Missing Link device itself
  • An engagement pad

Installation Process

  • With Suspension Removal:
    • Remove the rear wheel and loosen the Allen screw in the support.
    • Remove the arm motion sticker to reveal a bolt hole.
    • Use a drilling template to drill a 3/8″ hole in the specified location.
    • Slide the Missing Link into place and tighten the bolts.
  • Without Suspension Removal:
    • Access the bolt hole through the chassis.
    • Follow the same drilling process as above.
    • Slide the Missing Link into place and tighten the bolts.

Additional Notes

  • The engagement pad is designed to fit specific shock models.
  • Welding may be required for the engagement pad.
